Matt Tarkenton is executive vice president of The Tarkenton Companies, which includes Tarkenton Financial, GoSmallBiz.com and Lodestar Technology Labs. The companies are led by Fran Tarkenton, Tarkenton’s father, who played professional football for 18 years and is a member of the NFL Hall of Fame.
Tarkenton spends the bulk of his time running the operations of Tarkenton Financial, a national insurance marketing organization. Previously, he spent more than a decade in investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, and wealth management with Wilmington Trust, Hambrecht & Quist (subsequently, JPMorgan), The Robinson-Humphrey Company, First Physician Care and Alex, Brown & Sons. In 2007, he was named as one of the “Top 40 Under 40, Up and Comers” by The Atlanta Business Chronicle.
He has a demonstrated history of civic leadership, including serving on the boards of Special Olympics Georgia and on the Advisory Commission for The LEAGUE Georgia. He currently serves on the National Campaign Committee at The Westminster Schools and is past president and current class agent of his class at Princeton University. He has a bachelor’s degree from Princeton and a master’s of business administration from Harvard Business School.
Tarkenton and his wife, Jeannie, have three children, Anna, Peter and Robert.
