Helping Children And Families Live Successfully.

Youth Villages Special Events

Youth Villages holds three large Special Events each year: Soup Sunday in February, the Youth Villages 5k Run/Walk in April and our Family Fun Fest and Fishing Rodeo in June. There are also other events from time to time. The success of these fund-raising events depends greatly on the support from volunteers who help with setting up, supervising the children's areas, serving and warming food, selling tickets, cleaning up and more. It's a great way to get involved by yourself or with your family, a group of coworkers, church friends or others.

There's fun in the sun as kids bait their hooks and reel in fish at Youth Villages' Children's Fishing Rodeo every year. The rodeo is held at the lake on the Bartlett Campus, 7410 Memphis-Arlington Road in Bartlett. Two weeks prior to the event, the eight-acre lake is stocked with more than 2,500 pounds of catfish. So, there's always lots of fish to catch. Prizes are awarded to the heaviest stringers in five age categories.

Boys and girls 14 years and under may participate in the fishing rodeo, and all entrants receive a free t-shirt. Children bring their own fishing equipment. Concessions are available for sale as well as a limited supply of bait and tackle.

All proceeds from the fishing rodeo benefit Youth Villages.

For more information about the Youth Villages Children's Fishing Rodeo call the event hotline at (901) 252-7650 or call (901) 251-4821.
