Youth Villages Red Kite Nite Raises $60K

Dec 13, 2022 | Blog

Puffy sleeves, tacky cummerbunds and big hair were on the scene at the Youth Villages Red Kite Nite Retro Prom held Oct. 29. More than 100 attendees came together at the SoWa Power Station in Boston, Massachusetts, to raise funds and awareness for the organization. Hosted by the Youth Villages of Massachusetts and New Hampshire Leadership Council, the event raised $60,000 to provide young people with the life-changing services of LifeSet.

Guests heard from Amber, a LifeSet participant and Scholar, as she shared her emotional story from growing up in foster care to spending most of her adolescence in a residential placement, getting kicked out of college and living out of her car to a full-time college student with a job helping young adults at the residential facility where she once was placed. Amber talked about her drive to help others overcome the challenges she faced as a young adult and how LifeSet helped her find the stability, independence and success she needed to get her life back on track.

The party got underway with live music from Vincent King Live as the band played all our favorite throwbacks. Kessler Valentin and Shelley Chhabra were crowned Prom Royalty for being the best dressed with their on-point retro-prom-themed outfits.
