Youth Villages Tennessee Executive Director Charmaine Kromer was appointed by former Gov. Bill Haslam to serve on the 18-person Juvenile Justice Reform Implementation Council. Haslam, on his last day in office, also appointed government officials, lawyers and law enforcement to sit on the new council, which will oversee a wave of reforms he signed into law in the Juvenile Justice Reform Act of 2018.

The Juvenile Justice Reform Act of 2018 will make Tennessee’s juvenile system more effective, improve outcomes for youth offenders, and increase public safety. The Council will promote consistent statewide implementation of the legislation, develop performance measures, consider further policy recommendations, and support improving statewide juvenile justice-related data collection.
