Adoption finalizations at the Tennessee Governor’s Mansion
Twelve children officially joined their forever families in an adoption event hosted by Governor Bill Lee and First Lady Maria at the Governor’s Mansion this May. All these children were in foster care, and some moved around multiple homes or were separated from their siblings at times. Now, they each begin a new chapter defined by stability, belonging and the support of a loving family.
Children exiting the foster care system is always a reason to celebrate. And while we prioritize reunification with birth families as much as possible, when it is not a safe option, permanency through adoption is the next best outcome.
Nine of the children were in foster care through Youth Villages, and all were adopted alongside their siblings. Avoiding sibling separation is a big priority, as it strengthens family bonds and preserves relationships that helped these children navigate challenging times.

The adoptive parents worked diligently alongside our staff throughout their time together to ensure each child gets the love and services they need to succeed in their home.
At the ceremony, families and their support systems enjoyed lunch while children had activities such as games, balloon animals and face painting.
This moment underscored the importance of community involvement in adoption and foster care. When families step forward to provide love and permanence, they change lives and create futures filled with opportunity and connection.
Youth Villages remains committed to assisting families at every stage of the journey, ensuring that children receive the support they need to thrive in their forever homes.
