Knoxville Couple recognized as rookie foster parents of the year
Knoxville couple is being recognized for the way they’ve stepped up, just months after entering the world of foster care.
Brittany and Becca Fouson were named Rookie Foster Parents of the Year by Youth Villages, the local foster care agency with which they work. The award is given to one family across the entire East Tennessee region—and this year, the Fousons stood out.
“They’re just a really remarkable family to work with,” said Jenna Bailey with Youth Villages. “They have such a passion for caring for our children. One definitely provides more structure and stability, the other brings a lot of fun and creativity.”
The couple began fostering in October. Since then, they’ve opened their home to three children.
We’re very open to the more problematic or troubled kids. Because we really wanted them to have a safe space.
Bailey said the teens in the Fousons’ care are already thriving.
“I’m just so blown away by the ways they’re able to foster and open their hearts to these kids,” she said. “They’re incredible.”
